Yes, Enablecode is a business, but we are more than just that. Instead of merely aiming for profit, we also aim to make a difference in society. Two years ago, before Enablecode was established, our CEO Colin Blackwell came to realize how difficult it was for people with disabilities to find good employment in Vietnam and he wanted to do something about this. In other words, he identified a problem and tried to find a solution for it.
Part of this solution is now Enablecode, a business that leads by example. Yes, we work for profit, but simultaneously we also work to help solve a social issue. What better way to increase the chances of employment for people with disabilities than to establish a disability-inclusive business that can serve as an example to other companies in Vietnam (and beyond)?
This is what social enterprises do. They are involved in normal day-to-day business activities, but with the purpose of contributing to a social goal, be it environmental protection, improved healthcare or increased employment.
Below is nice video that provides a good explanation of the purpose and value of social entrepreneurship. As stated in the video: “… it is possible to do business on a human scale.”
Enablecode is a social enterprise based in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, which employs programmers and designers with physical disabilities.
